NHS Grampian in pilot to recruit new Board members
NHS Grampian has been chosen by the Scottish Government to be one of four pilot areas to increase the diversity of Board members, improve public engagement and to seek ways to improve current arrangements for appointing non-executive members to health boards.
As part of the pilot, NHS Grampian is looking for two people to join its Board as non-executive members, and today [July 8 2010] marks the start of that recruitment campaign.
NHS Grampian Chairman, Dr David Cameron said: "All kinds of people, from all walks of life can make good Board members. We're looking for someone who's 16 or over and lives or works in Grampian. Perhaps the most important aspect of the role is to have an interest in the health experiences and needs of people in Grampian, particularly patients and carers."
"It's a challenging role, but one that could really make a difference to everyone using the services of NHS Grampian."
Laura Gray, Board Secretary and Director of Corporate Communications said: "We are looking for candidates who are good listeners and communicators and can commit around eight hours per week to the work of the Grampian NHS Board. Anyone with the necessary skills, knowledge and personal qualities to make a contribution to the Board is encouraged to apply. NHS Grampian and the Scottish Government are committed to equality of opportunity and we are hopeful to receive a diverse range of applicants for these appointments."
