The Health Protection Team is responsible for the surveillance, investigation and control of communicable disease and non-infectious environmental hazards. This service is available 365 days a year 24 hours a day. Please see below for a more detailed explanation of the functions of the team.

Functions of the Health Protection Team

Surveillance, investigation and control of communicable disease and non-infectious environmental hazards in Grampian
Identification and management of outbreaks in the community and the management of major hospital outbreaks
Support and advice to the Local Authorities, Emergency Services, Scottish Water, State Veterinary Service, and NHS staff
Co-ordination of immunisation programmes
Information on domestic vaccination and immunisation and advice to primary care and other health professionals
Education and training to a wide range of professional groups
