Action Plan

An inspection of ARI was undertaken in October 2009 by the Healthcare Environment Inspectorate (HEI).  The HEI is a new body that has been set up to help reduce the risk of healthcare associated infections.  The HEI inspection team examined NHS Grampian's own self-assessment information and then inspected the hospital to validate this information and to meet patients and staff and visit wards and departments.  During the visit, the inspection team also assessed the hospital's physical environment for issues related to healthcare associated infection.

The findings from the visit have now been published and cover nine requirements that NHS Grampian is fully expected to address, plus six recommendations for improvement.

Since the visit a comprehensive action plan has been produced and many of the actions have been progressed.

There have since been two unannounced inspections of ARI - one in November 2009 and one in February 2010.  These visits have identified many areas where progress has been made.  The visits have also identified further or outstanding improvements that still need to be made.  Following each visit, the action plan has been updated to reflect the findings of each visit.
