About Clinical Neurophysiology Service

The Clinical Neurophysiology Service is based in the Neuroscience Floor, Level 3, Pink Zone, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. We also have an EEG recording room in Out-Patient Dept in Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

We provide a range of specialist diagnostic tests to patients of all ages in Grampian Region, as well as those from Orkney and Shetland Islands
Most of our patients are referred from Neurology, Neurosurgery, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics. They come to us with a wide range of conditions that affect the brain, spine, nervous system and muscles - further information on some of these conditions can be found in the Neurology section of this site.

Our department's aim is to help diagnose and assist referring consultant’s management of their patient's neurological condition. The tests we perform involve recording and assessing a wide range of physiological electrical signals such as brain waves and nerve and muscle activity.

These tests are commonly known as EEG, NCS, EMG and VEP.

Our department can be contacted by telephone on our direct line Monday to Friday from 8am - 4pm (01224) 552228.
