What are Movement Disorders and Parkinson's disease?

Patients with movement disorders may have abnormalinvoluntary movements, such as a tremor or other involuntary musclespasms or jerks. Parkinson's disease is a specific type of movement disorder(with slowness, stiffness and tremor) which requires specialist assessmentand management.

 

What does our service offer?

We offer outpatient assessment for the diagnosis and management ofpatients with Parkinson's disease and other movement disorderssuch as tremor and dystonia across a range of services.

 

Who are the team?

The team includes consultant neurologists and specialist nurses forParkinson's disease and dystonia. We also work closely withconsultants in care for the elderly and psychiatry and with awide range of therapists including physiotherapists, occupationaltherapists, speech & language therapists and pharmacists in orderto meet the many different needs of patients with these conditions.
